Obsidian Tools and Chipping Debris. Dasht-i-Nawur. Ghazni Province.

1976
A surface scatter of obsidian tools and chipping debris collected at Dasht-i-Nawur dating from the Epipaleolithic between the end of the Palaeothic and the beginning of the Neolithic about 18 thousand years ago. This was the first reporting of obsidian in a prehistoric context in Afghanistan. Obsidian is a superb material for making tools for its cutting edges can be made sharper than were steel.
