Paghman Today

December 2004
The pace of modernization has accelerated since 2002 and becomes very visible from the central square as aid organizations build schools, especially for girls, and clinics in the vicinity of the central square. Paghman never lost its popularity with the people of Kabul who flock here on Fridays with ever increasing enthusiasm. Matching the building surge in Kabul, sumptuous homes rise almost daily in the villages lining the road leading into Paghman. Business at the new luxury hotels around the Kargah reservoir, half way between Kabul and Paghman,is brisk and are often chosen as honeymoon hideaways.
