The Musahiban.
1913
The 1929 departure of King Amanullah ushered in a new dynasty led by King Nader Khan from a powerful collateral branch of Mohammadzai-Barakzai Kandahari Pushtun, also spoken of as the Yahya Khel, and often referred to as the Musahiban (Influential). Amir Abdur Rahman had exiled the Yahya Khel family to India, where Sardar Nadir Khan was born in 1883, but Amir Habibullah invited them back. The family then became influential, if at times discontented, members of the court. Because of disagreements with King Amanullah, Sardar Nadir Khan was dispatched to Paris as ambassador in 1924. In February 1929, after King Amanullah's abdication, he met with younger brothers in Peshawar and with considerable difficulty they rallied the eastern tribes. Brother Sardar Shah Wali Khan took Kabul on 10 October; Nader Khan arrived on 16 October; and on the 17th a tribal jirgah proclaimed him Nadir Shah, King of Afghanistan.
