Glassware From Begram. Kapisa Province.
This glass dish (d. 17.7 cm) is a superb example of the millefiori technique of glassmaking that involves placing multi-colored glass rods side by side in a mold so that when heated they melt together to produce beautiful variegated textures. Millefiori glass objects were very popular throughout the Roman empire.
