1995
In addition to the Salang Highway heading north, Asmai Street heading west was cut through from the south corner of Zarnegar Park in 1972 in order to improve traffic congestion, It ran along the back wall of Amir Abdur Rahman's machinkhana and it was not long before the new street was lined with shops selling mainly housewares. Further along, across from the machinkhana, in Jui Shir, a labyrinth of small, tightly packed book stores established themselves as a leading book market.
