The terracotta figurine on the right, h. 6 cm., from Deh Morasi Gundai dates principally from the Bronze Age in the 4th millennium BCE, but with extensions up through the Islamic period. The similar figurine on the left from Mundigak is of the same period. Deh Morasi Ghundai was one of numerous peasant farming-herding villages that erved as the backbone of the economy, supporting the full time religious-artisan political and administrative specialists living in the big city of Mundigak. It was excavated in 1951 by Louis Dupree.
