Minar-i-Istiqlal 1920.

This monument in Istiqlal Park commemorates General Nadir Khan's victory over the British at Thal on 27 May 1919 during the War of Independence, Afghanistan's third war with the British. Originally it was more elaborate with statues at each corner the British lion in chains, two soldiers and a pot of flowers. These were destroyed during Bacha Saqqao's occupation and replaced by four canon.
