Artificial, Man-made Rock Caves East of The Buddha at Bamiyan.
The face of the cliff to the left of the Large Buddha is honeycombed with 750 man-made caves that served as monasteries and assembly halls. Painted in brilliant colors and hung with multi-colored banners these vibrant facades jutting out from the face of the cliff once presented a dazzling appearance. They crumbled to dust centuries before modern times, however.
