An 8th century Japanese textile with beaded medallions carried a design that was probably originated in the minds of early pilgrims inspired by what they saw at Bamiyan, The design was also found nearer at home on the dress of the male princely couple at Fondukistan (see below (81-865) of the 7th century CE.
