Modernization of Shahr-i-Naw's Main Shopping Streets.
Summer 1967
It was the magnificent displays of fruit in traditional shops, however, that attracted the admiration of both Afghans and foreigners alike. The shops were small with no glass doors just as they were in small bazaars throughout the city, but the stunning arrangement of their wares was eye-catching and the exuberance of the shopkeepers was irresistible. These shops disappeared from the area after the 1970s.
