Buddha Head. Darrya-i-Nur, Nangarhar, Province.
1976
Fine pieces constantly surface accidentally, although, sadly they are not often reported. This fine stucco head (h. 22 cm. x 11 cm. across the ears) was found in 1960 by accident somewhere in the Darrya-i-Nur, an hour's drive north of Jalalabad. It was in the hands of the stolen art traffickers network.
