Hindu Shahi Lingam. North Corridor, First Floor.

April 1995
The white marble object on the left is a stylized lingam, symbol of the cosmic male principle and of the Hindu god Shiva. From the Hindu Shahi period, ca. 9th century C.E. Found in Tagao, Parwan province. Mysteriously, artifacts kept disappearing even with steel doors sealing the storerooms. Finally it was noted that the steel doors were simply being removed intact from the mud walls and then replaced without trace of removal.
