Word about Paghman's Beauty and its pleasures spread quickly. Soon architects, journalists, diplomats and tourists from Britain, British India, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Austria, Russia and the United States flocked to this new playground where they mingled with European resident diplomats, technicians, factory managers, doctors and archaeologists living in Kabul whose numbers had increased significantly from the days when Afghanistan was spoken of as a hermit nation.
