Ivories From Begram. Kapisa Province.

1965
Ivory Throne back (h. 57 cm; length at top 2 xs that) with two central rows displaying 13 carved panels alternating with narrow spindles. The curved sweeping top panel is unadorned; the two narrow rows at the bottom are filled with bulbous spindles and crowded scenes carved in relief. This magnificent artifact no longer exists for it was ripped to pieces by looters interested only in looting the carved plaques.
