The zoo ends at Deh Mazang circle from which the broad Darulaman Avenue, recently changed to constitution avenue, laid out by King Amanullah for his new city runs south. The beautiful line of old mulberry trees that used to line this avenue in the 1960s and 70s all disappeared during the war years. The Panja Chinar trees, so beloved by the Moghuls, replaced them are growing rapidly (2016).
