MIRZA YAZDIGORD SAMANGANI from Aibak, Samangan province, a 70-year-old farmer and artist whose paintings were originally sold in a dry goods shop in Kabul. An Exhibit was then arranged in May 1974 at the Goethe Institute in Kabul by Inayatullah Shahrani and Nancy Hitch Dupree every pen-and-ink with color-wash painting was sold. The Ministry of Information and Culture offered to set Samangani up in a studio if he would take students. He declined, saying he was only a farmer.
Shirin agrees to marry Farhad on condition that he proves his love by digging a tunnel through the mountain. Shirin visits him to see how work progresses. A local Central Asian tale. Sale Price: 1200 afs.
