Fountain Plaza. Ai Khanoum, Takhar Province.

1980
A charming rectangular plaza measuring 7.5 x 5.5 meters was built at the foot of the rampart wall on the south bank of the Amu Darya, a little above and east of the administration section. It is purely Greek and one of the rare structures built entirely of limestone dating, perhaps, to the first quarter of the 3rd century BCE.
