Modernization of Shahr-i-Naw's Main Shopping Streets.

1974
In the 1960s and early 70s, Kabulis could choose from various entertainment options along Shahr-i-Naw's two main streets. There was a bowling alley/restaurant, seen here, other restaurants specializing in Afghan, Italian, German, and French cuisine nestled between the shops. A nightclub called the 25 Hour Club, its walls elegantly covered with colorful brocade, its owner dashingly attired in formal black tie and ruffled shirt front, catered to young mini-skirted patrons who danced until dawn.
