Antelope Bracelet. Gold From Tillya Tepe. Near Sheberghan, Jawzjan Province.

1981
The affinity of these people with the wild animals of the steppe is impressively evident in a pair of bracelets with racing antelopes worn by the lady in Burial 2 (8.5 x 6.3; weight 254.37 grams). These magnificent antelopes, legs spread flat, muzzles resting on the hooves, have garnet and cornelian pupils bulging with the effort of great speed. A profusion of turquoise inlays adds to the charm of these bracelets.
