Looking Outward.
Spring 1963
Vast improvements in the road networks took place all over the country in the 1960s. The road from Peshawar to Kabul was particularly critical because the quantity of trade goods moving along this road was tremendous. Here a particular problem arose at the Kabul end where the road builders encountered the gorge at Tangi Gharu. Afghanistan has countless impressive gorges, but the Tangi Gharu is the most spectacular.
