Ganymede feeding the Eagle of Zeus (d. 16.3 cm.). Many versions of this popular subject were engraved on plaques and gems during the Greco-Roman period. Ganymede was a beautiful Trojan youth made immortal and taken up to Olympus to be the cupbearer to the gods.
