Some of the furniture was very large. Before 1978 the palace was enjoyed as a popular restaurant. In 1992 it became an university run by one of the resistance parties. Closed during the Taliban era, the following government had plans to turn it into a casino. A lot of destructive chipping off of plaster took place and then left in tatters when the casino plans ended. It now deserves some attention.
