Masjid Pul-i-Khishti. (Mosque at the Brick Bridge).
1967
Typically, modest neighborhood mosques are built within one kilometer of every home in residential areas. The imposing congregational Masjid Pul-i-Khishti dominates this section of Kabul. It occupies the site of a small mosque erected by Amir Shah Zaman (r. 1793-1800), fifth son of Amir Timur Shah. It has long played a powerful role in the life of the city.
