At home, numbers of special dishes are, prepared for Nawroz. Particularly popular among these are; Haft Mewa (7 Fruits), a fruit compote made from raisins, walnuts, almonds, hazel nuts, pistachios, dried apricots and, sanjit a (fruit from a local tree); Samanak, a sweet puree made from wheat germ cooked over a very long period is also popular.
