Kolola Pushta Fort Overlooking Gardens of Shahr-i-Naw.
December 1976
Kolola Pushta Fort (highlighted in upper left) overlooks the gardens and houses of Shahr-e-Nao. On the 14th of December 1928, Habibullah Ghazi (a.k.a.Bacha Saqqao), advanced on Kabul with some 1000 men and successfully captured this fort which he found well stocked with arms and ammunition. He bombarded the city with them until it fell on the 19th of January 1929, effectively ending the reign of King Amanullah.
