ABDUL MALIK
Abdul Malik, son of Rahman Gul, leader of the Kirghiz in the 1970s. Abdul Malik was self-taught, made his own pigments from materials found locally and even made some of the paper he used. His paintings were very popular with patrons in Kabul during the 1970s. The Ministry of information and Culture organized several exhibitions of his work. The Duprees acted as Abdul Malik's agent in Kabul when he was in the Wakhan. Rahman Gul brought his followers to Gilgit, Pakistan, in October 1978. The Kirghiz were later resettled in Turkey in the Lake Van area.
