Shifting the National Museum: Islamic State of Afghanistan.

On the 27 April 1992 takeover by the Islamic State of Afghanistan, a group of seven political parties from Peshawar, the Koti Baghcha stores were pilfered. The museum halls were clean, but nothing was on display. The government established a distinguished 25-member National Commission for the Preservation and Retrieval of Afghanistan's Cultural and Historical Heritage, but it was not until April 1995 that the Minister of Culture, Sayed Ishaq Deljo Hussaini, committed the government, for the first time, "to rescue the museum, to revive it so that future generations may once again be inspired by the ingenuity of past generations."
