Archeological site on ridge outside Kunduz. Probably Hephthalite cemeter with 100 tumuli excavated by Casal (1953; Le Barre (1963) of DAFA.
Hephthalites came into the area ca. 400 and ruled for 100 years. Defeated by a coalition of Sasanians and Turks in 6th century. Finds include human and animal bones; gold and lapis jewelry; bysantine coin; bronze and iron artifacts.
