Nevertheless a loyal audience attended the Ministry of Information and Culture's symbolic opening of the theater in January 2002, despite the fact that the roof was gone and the January weather was freezing. The Ministry hoped to revive theatrical activities and stimulate donors in the rebuilding of the theater. These hopes were unfulfilled, but the effort was admirable.
