Attitudinal Changes.
1960s
Less ambitious women set up work places, boutiques and hair-dressing salons in spaces built into the walls of their residence compounds that open on to the street on the other side. This was a nice compromise that permitted women to engage in gainful employment while maintaining modest positions in the public arena.
