King Amanullah's Bala Bagh Haremserai.
1976
Here the eclectic surface decoration displayed many examples of the popular designs architects and home owners were employing on their buildings a mixture of neo-classical and pseudo-rococo, utilizing pseudo-Ionic and Corinthian capitals, fluted pilasters, denticulated triangular and curved pediments, prominent quoins and scrolls - all exuberantly combined. The wealth of designs executed in gleaming white molded stucco, was made all the more prominent by the underlying pastel color-washes then in vogue.
