Wall Paintings On The Niche Of The Large Buddha. Bamiyan Province.
The Bodhisattva figures on the next levels sat easily, their bare torsos draped only with flowing scarfs and jeweled necklaces; hands pointed gracefully outwards. Indian-style dhotis were arranged in careful folds below the waist. The presence of women was notable.
