Shortugai had close links to the great Harappan cities of the Indus Valley Civilization in Pakistan which flourished on their extensive trading network which reached as far west as Egypt and Mesopotamia (Iraq/Syria), north into Central Asia and east to China. They were at their peak around 2,600 and 1,900 BCE, Map by H.E. Klappert.
